Castle Repercussions - C

"Fantastic Work."

date: April 16, 2009

I'm really impressed for this part.

The voice acting and sound keep the quality already seen in part A and B, as well as the heavy atmosphere.

While I'm still not into stick figures, specially for a work of such quality, you managed to do it fairly well. The action scenes over this part were top notch, I found the majority of camera angles very appropriate.

If you had the chance I'd suggest you to update the newer parts so that the arc at the end with their names contained links for the previous parts.

Overall it's a great piece, you sure got some talent!
Keep it up!

"Turned out to be better than expected."

Nice job, and your Vinter musician really knows what he's doing!

I liked your artwork a lot as well. In fact, I found the first scenario so good I was kinda disappointed to see the sticks. Don't get me wrong, they we're well done, but for a piece with such potential, I'd rather have character designs that stand up for it, heh!

Storywise, you've done a nice job setting up the mood, it was very enjoyable.
The voices were truly great, not only the editing but the acting as well-- you've got some talent over there.

I will be waiting for the next parts,
Keep it up!

"Much Potential!"

That's a fine idea and overall well executed, it just seems to lack experience on gameplay basics.

Take a look over similar games of the professional industry, You can always learn something new.

I think if you stick a little more to the 'Stealth' type, you could have something very entertaining. Well let's say, having weapons to be more letal, hide-behind scenery objects combined with a fine raycasting for enemy AI, possibly a set of objectives to be completed over the course of the mission... these types of things are oftenly seen in this genre of games, and are very welcome.

Besides that, the coding and art could use some work.
Just keep improving over it and you'll have something great soon enough!
Good luck!

Author's Response:

It's interesting you bring up stealth, because I actually have a bunch of functionality that I built in that I didn't use for dawning, including thugs having sight cones, and alerting others, they actually alert others now, but their proximity is so large that most people won't notice.

Nice work once again. There are signs of improvement from the last one.

Make some roughs of the keypoints of the animations before going into them. Then, after you get them right, start filling the gaps between the keypoints.

Also, focus on improving the voice acting.

Keep practicing and you'll reach even better results.

Here's hoping to see a grand finale.

I actually used to make rouch animatics for all my movies, but I tried freestyling this one. Guess it was a lil shaky. Thanks for the constructive review.

"Good."

I like the whole idea of NightGun. I would, however, used a diferent way to show this trailer. To put it simple, more action. But yes, I understand it was done quickly and the real animation will have more action.

As for the graphics, try studying some human pictures. From this point on practice is almost everything you need to master the skill. You'll be drawing better, and faster, soon enough.

I see evolution since the previous movie. Keep it up.

Good luck and keep us informed.

Author's Response:

Actually, it's not really a trailer, it's meant to be a quick reference to the backstory before checking out one of the movies. But thanks for the advice =)

I don't know if you're aiming for a "scary" feel for his face, but if you are, I suggest putting it more like a mask. Cute things can be the most creepy ones if well done.
